Lake MacLeod to the rescue again

Our employees at Lake MacLeod have rescued another seafarer off the coast of Cape Cuvier.

A thank you letter was received by the rescued seaman:

To Dampier Salt,

After 5000 nautical miles of sailing from Fremantle to Darwin then through Indonesia and back down the WA coast I came to grief on the rocks between Cape Cuvier and Carnarvon after two days of bad weather.

Not knowing if anyone had heard my Mayday I climbed the cliff, when a guy called Sando from Dampier Salt, Rio Tinto was right there almost on cue looking for me.

Even though I had very little clothes on and could not stop talking, as I was in a little shock, he was professional and courteous. Rio Tinto and Sando rescued me, gave me a much needed shower and cup of tea, a medical check up and a lift into town as well as Sando's shorts and a Dampier Salt t-shirt that I will keep with pride.

I would like to say thank you to all the people of Dampier Salt especially Sando, Noel, Alana, Alan and all the people behind the scenes for their efforts to secure my safety.

The behaviour of the employees of Dampier Salt was a credit to the company and was very much appreciated in my moment of need.

Thank you
