Community investment
Dampier Salt takes a very practical approach to partnerships - we allocate an equal amount of funds to the towns of Carnarvon, Port Hedland and Dampier to support various sporting and local community initiatives.
In addition, each year we award a Dampier Salt community grant of $50,000 to a deserving community organisation. In 2009, this grant was awarded to the West Pilbara Volunteer Sea Search & Rescue Service based in Port Hedland.
At Carnarvon, a three-year partnership with the Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation encourages and supports Aboriginal high school students to finish their secondary education. It is hoped these young people will then go on and apply for and complete a university degree.
At Dampier, we support the Medical Services Incentive Scheme. The partnership aims to attract and retain doctors in Karratha and Dampier to ensure the local population has timely access to a doctor when they need one.
